Truth and Revelation - A Shining Example
Fabrics have been a part of my life since I was age 10. This is when I gave in to my creative desires and started to recycle my Daddy's socks to design a new line of doll clothes. Understand, this was the first materials I could put my hands on. Several months went by as I continued to use shirt sleeves, collars, buttons and many other fabric sources found in the give-away pile. My Mother and the Ms. Harrison, the home economics teacher had become very good friends while working together at the high school. One day Mom shared, "I have arranged for Ms. Harrison to bring you some sewing scraps from her students, on Saturday". Oh my God, I thought, this is big. I am in for a treat..... real fabrics are coming my way. On that Saturday around noon, I got all dressed up like I was going to church, then sat in the living room to await the knock on the door. Finally, the magic moment appeared. With open arrns, I received my huge bag of scraps and we exchanged smiles. After a brief visit with Mom and me, Ms. Harrison went on her way.
How can we be a shining example as we await to receive all the goodness the Lord has for us who believe? Not only are we to "let our light so shine... "[Matt.5:16,] we must strive to be exemplary in all that we do, what we say and show stewardship over what we attain. [see Luke I2:35-44] I have received many, many bags of scraps and fabric samples since that wonderful day of my childhood, and you know, I have just begun to really see them as life lessons.
Our Lord God brings to each of us; opportunities and offerings everyday that we may overlook because they are "too small or too tedious" for us to slow down for. [see Luke 16:10] Can you imagine the frame of mind one must place himself in just to meticulously search through a huge bag of scraps, trying to make sense of the all creative possibilities at once? And why is it - the piece or pieces of fabric that makes my creative heart skip a beat, always manages to hide near the bottom? That's another life lesson.
I have learned that it is not necessary to literally get "all dressed up" everyday, however, I do believe it is a necessary to prepare our minds, hearts and spirits each day with spiritual dressings - the scriptures, prayer, quotes or mantras and surround ourselves with positive energy! This will assuredly make you a shining example in your family and as you go out to your job, your neighborhood and the world.
May you expect, receive and enjoy the blessings your Lord God has for you.
In peace,
